Introducing ClickShip's New Duties & Taxes Estimations

Shipping from Canada to the United States is a fantastic way to grow your business, but the process can sometimes feel complex. One of the biggest pain points for businesses and their customers is the uncertainty around cross-border duties and taxes.

That's why we're so excited to announce a new feature on our platform: a duties and taxes estimate for all U.S. bound shipments seamlessly included in your shipping cost.

What Does This Feature Do?

Our new tool provides a real-time, upfront estimate of the potential duties and taxes that will be due on your U.S. shipments, allowing you to pay these as a part of your shipping costs. The estimate is based on the item's value, classification, and other relevant factors.

How to Use the New Estimator

Using the tool is simple:

1) Simply log in to your account and create a new U.S. bound shipment.

2) Choose your method of shipping:

A) Order Page - Ship It Modal: When you fulfill an order using the “Ship It” feature, you will have the same DDP and DDU options. If you select DDP you will be prompted to add important information including a description of your product and HTS code.
Product information will be pulled from your storefront or marketplace listing when available, however, please ensure this is reviewed before shipping to indicate CUSMA eligibility and validate HTS code accuracy. You can make edits to this by editing your customs invoice prior to booking.

B) Manual Shipping: Enter your shipping details and Select either DDP or DDU. When selecting DDP, you will be prompted to add important information including a description of your product and HTS code. Please ensure the information entered is accurate.

3) Once the information is added, and if DDP is selected, the rates that appear will have duties and taxes estimated and will be included in the cost. You can view a breakdown of the costs by hovering over the total cost of the shipment. If DDU is selected, you can continue to book your shipment which will only include the shipping rate.

4) Select from the rate options and book your shipment.

In addition, you will also still have the ability to select DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid – Billed to Receiver) at this time. This option will show only the shipping costs; any additional costs will be passed to your receiver.

We believe this new tool will be a game-changer for businesses of all sizes, making cross-border shipping smoother, more transparent, and more efficient for you and your customers.
